| 2500bc-14/1300bc | A round barrow with no sign of interment at or near the centre. A primary or subsequent primary (?)crouched skeleton was near the inner edge of the ditch at the south west. In the south west portion were many holes, one of which contained a (?)secondary cremation. The structure in this area comprised an oval or subrectangular setting of at least 27 shallow post holes aligned NW/SE, with a gap at the SE. The ring ditch had destroyed the south west line of holes. Within this structure were 4 postholes forming a square setting, the whole group considered to be Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age from associated pottery sherds, and predating the barrow as a 'timber circle'. |
