| 2500bc-14/1300bc | A disc barrow of oval shape with twin mounds oriented NW/SE. The mounds had been destroyed by ploughing and levelling. An oval north west grave contained a heaped cremation of a female c18 with a small bronze awl. The pit infill was of dark charcoal-impregnated loam containing bone fragments, 2 pieces of iron pyrites, flint and chalk, and a sherd of Late Neolithic/Beaker pottery. The circular south east grave had contained a cremation of an infant, with infill similar to that of the other grave. RC: from the south east grave charcoal HAR-6471 1450 +/- 110 |
