| 2500bc-14/1300bc | A bowl barrow set on an area stripped of its turf, whose mound comprised a turf layer 0.3m thick, under earth and chalk with a chalk capping. A central primary oval grave oriented NW/SE, measuring 1m x 0.6m x 0.3m deep contained an adult cremation. On top of the bones was a bronze dagger which had been in a wooden sheath, and with an ox horn handle. All around the grave on the barrow floor was a quantity of large tree branches in charcoal form. |
