| 2500bc-14/1300bc | A probable bowl barrow part destroyed by quarrying, at the centre of which was the skeleton of an adult male in a shallow grave c15cm deep oriented WNW/ESE, on its back, head to WNW, legs slightly flexed to the left and arms bent up over the body. On the chest, apparently clasped in the right hand was a very thin flat bronze knife-dagger with short triangular tang, a horn handle and 5 rivets. There were also the traces of a leather sheath. From the dagger's fragility it appeared to the excavator to be a funerary piece. |
