----Installation Instructions----

The York System consists of the following files and folders:

*York.mdb
*YorkHelp.chm
*help files
*toothwear
*zones
*backup

The York System is simple to install. The only requirements are that Access 2000 (or Access XP) has been installed on your computer (or you have access to it over a network), and you have at least 24 MB of space free. This includes about 18 MB for the database itself, 4 MB for diagnostic zone image files, and 2 MB for tooth wear image files. The help files are an additional 8 MB, but can be printed out or read from the CD if necessary.

The York System can be installed anywhere on your system. The files are not zipped or compressed in any way on the CD, so simply copy the files and folders to the directory of your choice. Note: you cannot run the database from the CD.

1. Copy the files from the CD to a directory of your choice.
2. Right-click the database icon for York.mdb, select Properties, and uncheck the 'Read-only' box (if copying from a CD).
3. Open York.mdb and, from the Tools menu, select Options. Choose Edit/Find and un-check all 'confirm' boxes. (This stops messages appearing every time you add or delete something from the database.)
4. Choose initialise from the switchboard.
5. Restart the computer (this makes it run faster and more efficiently).
