| Description | The lion is reclining with its head raised. The underside is flat. Its forepaws are stretched out in front of it; the right paw has been bent slightly down. The toes on the forepaws are worked by incisions. The head is simply but strongly modelled with the mouth open, a rich mane and prominent ears. There are deeply incised diagonal lines on the chest with vertical ones on the forehead. . .The rear legs are positioned to each side of the body, their haunches strongly modelled. The tail is marked as a clearly defined ridge down the rear of the body and then curves onto the left rear quarter as a flat strip (Symons). |
